Just by ensuring everyone in your vehicle is correctly restrained increases the chances of the occupants not being injured should your vehicle be involved in a crash. It's quick and simple buckle up on every trip.
What can you do to reduce the risk?
- Wear your safety belt at all times
- Take responsibility and buckle up - whether you are the driver or a passenger, ensure your safety belt is on
- Seat children (under 12 years old) in the back seat and correctly restrained. Front airbags are designed to protect adults, not children. Ensure children under 148cm (recommended international best practice) are correctly restrained in a booster seat, in the back seat of your vehicle
- All children must be correctly secured in an approved children restraint (booster seat) until at least their seventh birthday
- Get your safety belts checked immediately if:
- the buckles are not working properly
- the belt is damaged or faded
- the belt starts to fray
